With over 700 million monthly users on Instagram, any business has the potential to thrive on this platform – but it all depends on your strategy. Personal Instagram account content is completely different than business account content as far as audience, intent, and incentive. Whereas personal accounts are going more for the “likes,” business accounts are on Instagram to get conversions and followers of their business and brand.

Instagram is extremely visual, so your primary focus will be to take unique, creative photos of your business. Whether that’s behind the scenes pictures of the office, images of new products, customers using their favorite items, or interesting products your business is in the midst of creating, you want to post pictures that will get your audience to engage.

While it’s important that you showcase who you are as a business, your audience will be more interested in the values rather than specific products. Instead of posting picture after picture of products you sell, try mixing it up to keep your customers interested in your brand.

Use Instagram stories and videos! Experiment with Boomerang and fun filters on your stories to capture the attention of your followers. Stories are great for giveaways, showing your personalities, introducing employees, and overall expanding your brand.

We do recommend that you use hashtags – but not in an insane amount. You have the ability to use up to 30 hashtags, but it can look very unprofessional if a business uses all of them. Instead, focus on using 5 or so relevant hashtags that are unique to your business so people can follow your posts easily!

Stay consistent with your postings, as well as the edits/filters you make on your photos. People are attracted to an appealing arrangement of pictures on Instagram accounts, so by sticking to the same few filters or editing apps, you can (usually) get more followers. However, follower amount also depends on the actual content quality of the things you post, don’t forget!

Lastly, your profile needs to directly represent your brand. Make sure your account is set as a business account (you get analytics, which helps you direct your marketing more towards your target audience!) and that you have your website and location listed in your bio. This is also a good opportunity to highlight your most well-liked/important Instagram stories as well.

Don’t worry – if this is too much for you to handle, that’s okay! Many businesses find that they don’t have the time to post and follow up on social media platforms, which is where Gamble Marketing Group comes in. We offer social media management services for different companies in all different industries so that they have more time to focus on what’s important to them – their employees, their customers, and their families!
